Part 1. Reading

The Girl in the Mirror

Violet Parr has always known that being a superhero is complicated. She has fought dangerous villains, saved innocent people, and protected her family with her invisible force fields. However, she has never experienced anything as strange as what has happened this week.

It all started on Monday morning.

Violet woke up and noticed that her bedroom window was open. She was sure she had closed it the night before. On her desk, someone had left a small purple box with a handwritten note:

“You have used your powers for years, but have you ever wondered where they really came from?”

Violet opened the box. Inside, she found an old photograph of a little girl with long black hair. The girl looked exactly like Violet, but something was wrong. The photograph was dated 1985, long before Violet was born.

Violet has seen many strange things in her life, but she has never seen a photograph like this.

At breakfast, she showed the picture to her mother, Elastigirl.

“Mom, have you ever seen this girl?” Violet asked.

Her mother's smile immediately disappeared.

“Where did you find that?” she whispered.

Before Violet could answer, her father, Mr. Incredible, entered the kitchen.

“What's going on?”

“Nothing,” Elastigirl replied quickly. “Violet has just found an old photograph.”

But Violet noticed that her parents were exchanging worried looks.

For the first time in her life, she felt that her family had hidden something important from her.

A Mysterious Discovery

That afternoon, Violet decided to investigate. She has always been good at disappearing, so she turned invisible and quietly entered her father's secret office.

She searched through several drawers until she discovered a locked metal cabinet. Fortunately, Dash had recently shown her how to open simple electronic locks.

Inside, Violet found a folder marked PROJECT MIRROR — TOP SECRET.

The first page contained a list of names. Most had been crossed out, but one name was still clearly visible:

VIOLET PARR — SUBJECT 02

Violet's hands began to shake.

Subject 02? What had happened to Subject 01?

She turned the page and found a shocking sentence:

“The original subject has escaped. The replacement has successfully developed invisibility and force-field abilities.”

Violet couldn't believe what she had read. Had someone created another Violet? Or was she the replacement?

Suddenly, her phone vibrated.

“You have finally discovered the truth. But you haven't discovered everything.”

A second message appeared:

“Meet me at the abandoned laboratory at midnight. Come alone.”

The Girl with the Same Face

Violet had never visited the abandoned laboratory before. It stood at the edge of the city, surrounded by broken fences and empty buildings.

When she arrived, the entrance was already open.

“Hello?” she called.

A voice answered from the darkness.

“I've waited fifteen years for this moment.”

A girl stepped into the light. Violet froze.

The stranger had the same face, the same eyes, and the same long black hair. She looked exactly like Violet.

“Who are you?” Violet whispered.

“My name is Violet Parr,” the girl replied.

“That's impossible!”

The stranger smiled sadly.

“Your parents have told you that you're their daughter. They've given you my name, my room, and my life. But have they ever told you how you got your powers?”

Violet stepped backwards.

“I was born with those powers. Scientists took me when I was little. They studied me for years. Then they created you.”

Violet felt sick.

“No. My parents would never do that.”

“Your parents haven't told you everything,” the girl answered. “And I've spent fifteen years trying to get my life back.”

Suddenly, the stranger raised her hand. A purple force field appeared around Violet.

For the first time, Violet was trapped inside someone else's power.

She tried to turn invisible, but nothing happened. Her powers had disappeared.

The Final Twist

The stranger walked closer.

“Do you want to know why your powers have stopped working?”

Violet nodded.

“Because they have never belonged to you.”

The girl placed her hand against the force field.

“I'm not your clone, Violet. You're mine.”

Violet stared at her in horror.

Then the laboratory doors opened. Elastigirl and Mr. Incredible rushed inside.

“Stop!” Elastigirl shouted.

Both girls turned towards her. For several seconds, nobody spoke.

Finally, Violet's mother looked at the stranger and whispered:

“I'm sorry. We've searched for you for fifteen years.”

Violet felt her heart stop.

Her mother walked past her and hugged the other girl.

“Welcome home, sweetheart.”

Violet stood completely still.

Her father looked at her with tears in his eyes.

“Violet, there's something we need to tell you.”

But before he could finish, a computer screen behind them suddenly switched on.

“PROJECT MIRROR COMPLETE. BOTH SUBJECTS HAVE BELIEVED THE STORY.”

The two girls looked at each other.

Then the computer displayed one final message:

SUBJECT 01: ARTIFICIAL.
SUBJECT 02: ARTIFICIAL.
ORIGINAL VIOLET PARR: LOCATION UNKNOWN.

Neither girl was the real Violet.

And somewhere in the city, the original Violet Parr had just received a message:

“Your replacements have finally met. Phase Two has begun.”
